Ok so this happened like 5-10 mins before somethibg great happened to me. but I was laying un bed checking instagram and then I felt my heart slow down for like 7seconds and in those 7 seconds it only pumped like 3 times. It felt like forever, but I'm not sure what it was. This has happened before but I would only feel one beat in less than 2 seconds and I would be fine but in this one I dont know what happened.

For most young people without a heart health history, it is actually quite normal. Breathing can alter one's heart rate and this is particularly pronounced in young people. This is something called 'sinus arrhythmia' and is perfectly normal. Sometimes, a person's heart beat just skips a few beats where they have a few scattered beats come in here and there - these are called 'ectopic beats' and are also quite harmless. It's only when someone's heart beats so out of time that the person starts going faint, or if they lose consciousness, that we worry. It means that the heart wasn't able to function well enough to pump blood to the brain and can be dangerous.

As an aside, if you take stimulants, like energy drinks, caffeinated drinks, or other drugs; this can also cause the heart to beat abnormally. Reduce the amount taken in a day to see if it helps, if this is the case.

If there is a history in the family of cardiac disease or if this persists, your doctor can examine the heart for abnormal blood flow (murmurs) with their stethoscope, or read the heart rhythm with an ECG machine - but if you are healthy and well usually, I'd not worry about it.

Hope it helps - keep us posted!
