After a pause of a few months I've started running again a while back. Somewhere in the future I want to run a 1/2 marathon, but I don't know how to train for a distance of 20km. Just running 20km as practice is probably a good option, but I'm definitely not ready for that yet.
Any advice on how to train?
I'm currently running laps of 5-8km (3-4,5 miles)

Develop your stamina by running a cumulative of 20km in a week.
Then you slightly increase it...
Then after about 5 months of training...try running 20km a day
Time yourself; compare it with others ;)
Good luck! ;)

Thanks!
20km a week is pretty doable at the moment :)

Just try to increase your performance every training! Remember not to run every day, you need rest. Try to set a smaller goal, like to run 10km first. If you run 8km now, it will probably take you like a month to get there if you take it slow. Then set another goal... you will feel satisfied reaching small goals, not with a big goal always far ahead :) http://www.herinterest.com/8-best-fitness-tips-ever/
