Just as anybody is, I am sick of my facial issues. I've had acne since the beginning of puberty (must have been 12) and I'm 16 now, especially in these two spots by my chin and on my jawline (have been there for six months). I look around at most of the kids in my school and they are acne-free (and I'm a portrait photographer—I can see hard-to-see acne from a good distance). I'm using medicine and creams on my face, and sometimes it does get better but the same spots are still there, with new ones popping up between my eyebrows. Ugh will there be an end to it?

See a doctor. I have acne problems as well and has been washing my face with various beauty products since I was 11 or 12. Finally my parents had enough and sent me to a doctor. He prescribed this cream that I then named "the almighty cream". It literally annihilates my acne in 48 hours time.

I use Proactiv and that works like a charm. When I come across some really stubborn spots I use Epiduo which I believe you need a prescription for, but that works pretty well to suppress anything throughout the day long enough so it's not as obvious as it could be and then the Proactiv takes its time to actually get rid of the obnoxious areas (about 2 to 3 days).

People can get acne even well into adulthood. I've seen quite a few adults with acne, although it is worst during puberty due to hormones. I've found that using a wash towel, with warm water at least a couple times a day to clear facial oils, then applying some standard moisturising skin to help maintain skin integrity helps. I pay particular effort around places with extra skin creases like the nasal region, where more oils build up for me. I've found that I've not had any real breakouts of pimples ever since.
Hope it serves to help someone!

The advice in this thread is pretty good (wash your skin daily, avoid touching your face, etc.). I recommend seeing a dermatologist, who will prescribe some kind of medication (either a cream or pill or both) that will help treat your acne. And for anyone reading this, I would personally recommend doing this as early as possible to prevent scarring.
I have terrible scarring on my skin that caused discoloration and bump-scars on my back and chest, as well as some indent-scars on my face. I should've seen a dermatologist when I was 11 or 12, but I waited way too long (I was 16/17 when I went) and the scars were already set. I didn't think it was a big deal, I assumed acne was normal and I just had more than most people, but it's actually a health concern and not just a beauty-thing. Good luck OP!

I've had the exact same problems since I was 12, still have it. I have a cream and also antibacterial tablets. It doesn't get rid of it completely, it just decreases the amount of it. The tablets are called Tetralysal Capsules or Lymecycline Capsules. See a doctor before getting them, in case you are allergic.

I have pretty bad acne too, I have it on my back and chest as well. It is such a bitch. I can do better though, I really need to implement constant face washing, it's something I'm not consistent with. I'm not sure what to do about the back stuff though.

Go see a dermatologist, I had the same problem. He prescribed me Ziana & after a month I noticed a huge difference. I've been using for about 2 years & I rarely get breakouts. The only spots on my face are small little red scars that are barely noticeable.

Going to see a dermatologist is probably your best bet for this. You can also check out these tips. (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?t=192058)

Hear ya. Acne is evil. It will end however.

This is true.
I've suffered from moderate to severe acne for years and I decided to go see a dermatologist and I was given a rather strong medication to take, it was a pain as it dried out my lips, skin and I had to go for regular blood tests.
However all in all after 6 months of taking this medication I was much better, I still have marks and a red/blotchy face but that's clearing up really well.
Most Acne can and will go away with time but some don't for a long long time and can leave your face marked.

I agree, see a dermatologist. Over the counter meds will only do you so good for so long. Proper face washing twice or so per day will also do some help.
It will go away eventually most likely. Just don't pick at it.

Just don't pick at it.
This is actually a very good point, if you have a habit at picking your spots then its wise to go see a dermatologist because if you pick at it then you'll find yourself with marks left and those marks will fade but depending on how old you are they can and will stay with you for the rest of your life.
The only problem about seeing a dermatologist is actually getting to see one. For example in the UK I had to go on several different creams and medication. When I was 14 I went to the doctors because I was getting severe acne and wanted to do something about it. I was then given a medication which all in all was about as useful as a fart in a wind storm. I was then given two more and a cream to try, this last about a year. With very little results I wasn't sure what to do so in the end I gave up as I was punted around from medication to medication and really just being generally disheartened at the results.
Fast forward, when I was 16/17 I went to the doctors and I re-stated my problem and he had my medical history to examine so he gave me the strongest medication you can given for acne without going to dermatologist. However the condition was if that didn't make a dent that I'd be refereed to a dermatologist. So when I was 17 I was refereed to one and was given the medication above and bang just over 6 months later a problem that had plagued my skin for years and years was fairly gone.
Now obviously it'll be different depending on where you live. However it can be a pain just to be refereed to one. It can also be costly as well but we have free health care in the UK so it was no cost at all.

I've found that keeping your face clean (washing with Neutrogena acne soap every night) and also using an astringent works better than acne creams for me.

Perhaps the ones you are using are causing it? Dont just use any creams out there, pick one that treats the problem like products containing salicylic acid.
