Hey!

Is it normal? I drink (only whisky) on very rare occassions, but sometimes I'm feeling in a need of some alcohol.

IDK, is it normal? I drink only when I can't sleep, etc.

yes this is normal as long as you only drink on occasions and not all the time people used to use alcohol as a sleeping aid
But remember to be safe and drink responsibly

Yeah it's kinda normal and as long as you don't overdo the whole thing you won't be an addict.
I also drink sometimes when I'm stressed out and can't sleep...but I don't have to drink to fall asleep...and that's important once you feel you can't sleep or relax without a drink you'll be in danger, so stay save.

It's not really out of the ordinary. However, research points to the interruption that alcohol can have on the development of the young person's brain. The human brain develops up to their early 20's. So if possible, people should moderate their intake of it until beyond this point if possible. The rare drink here or there probably won't be of much harm.

That's normal. I only drink when I'm super distressed/upset and I can't really talk to anyone about it.

Apparently they say you shouldn't drink when upset or distressed because it can make you feel more depressed and upset.

even if others may prove that it's "normal" still your vital organs are suffering from the toxic chemicals that alcohol brings.. so stop indulging in alcohol. based on some studies that i have read, alcoholic people started taking alcohol in small amounts until such time that their body have become dependent on alcohol, and the rest is history. they are now alcoholics..

Yeah, this is true in some cases.

I don't think you should drink at all when you're upset or distressed. If it makes you feel worse, you could make a stupid mistake. if it makes you feel better, it could start becoming your very unhealthy escape from your problems.

Just be careful when you drink, and try to realizing why you're drinking.

From personal experience, it absolutely can. At first, you might feel pleasant, and buzzed, but then you get hit with a fucking wall of emotion, and if you're...'Messed up', like me (I honestly can't even think of a nicer term, sorry. "Emotionally unstable", "Troubled", "Whacked out", take your pick)

It's not pretty, let's put it that way.

Precisely. It's especially bad supposedly if you drink to solve your problems. Then, it becomes a crutch, then, you're chemically dependent as well as psychologically dependent, and as you said, "the rest is history".

This is how I became an alcoholic.

Exactly.
