A total lunar eclipse happened on Tuesday April 15th UTC.
This was the first total lunar eclipse in more than 3 years, the previous one on December 10th 2011. Also, this was the first in a series of four total lunar eclipses, also called a tetrad. The other lunar eclipse this year is on October 8th.

I'll have a perfect view of the sucker tonight at midnight. Blood Moon at Midnight. If I ever write a book, that will be the title. I'll try to get a decent picture of it to post.

I should say it starts at like around 11:00 pm (for NV and AZ) and will reach full eclipse at around midnight.

I just went outside and saw it. Meh. It was mostly just a lot darker and only slightly red. I took a picture but it's impossible to make anything out in it. The moons just a speck of light.
Is it just me, or is the moon smaller in Texas? Its always so much bigger in movies than in real life.

I checked on it before coming in (12 AM PSD) and it was 3 quarters of the way covered. It looked frickin' awesome! :D
But my picture didn't come out, stupid phone.

It the moon was huge when I saw it rising at dusk, but now at it's highest point it looks small. It looks a lot bigger through binoculars. The eclipse is pretty much at apex now. It is interesting to see the moon looking like Mars. Especially since Mars happens to practically be right next to it (the big orange/red star to the right).

It's staying dark a lot longer than I expected it to. I'm anxious to see how my pics turned out with a cheapo camera, no tripod and a zillion street lights. At least it was facing away from the Vegas strip aha.
