(This is especially for those who drink/smoke)

So last night, I dreamed that I was out on the back porch drinking some coffee (nbd) and smoking. But I could TASTE the smoke. It even kind of shocked me in the dream, like "wow this is really good".

And ever since I've woken up, I've been CRAVING a smoke so badly. I've been irritable, and jumpy, and it's awful. I haven't smoked a cigarette in months, I haven't smoked tea in probably about a month. Why now? I've had dreams about drinking alcohol, but those were all RIGHT AFTER I quit. In the days and weeks following, when I was going through withdrawals.

...Why is this hitting me all of a sudden? Has anyone else gone through this??

Sounds like something triggered your craving subconsciously, and was then incorporated into your dreams. Our brains can subconsciously absorb information while we're conscious, so we don't realize that something impacted us in a specific way.

Addiction works like that a lot. Sometimes you'll know what caused your cravings and other times they will be abosrbed without a conscious awareness. The cravings will just seem to come out of nowhere.

You can try identifying what might have triggered you, but that's usually next to impossible if it was absorbed subconsciously. What works best is to just realize it's a craving and move onwards from there. Don't focus on it and let it manifest to a stronger desire.

I know right? That's what's so awful about it :/

Eh, I've made it through so far :)

That makes sense, thanks.

Maybe the last little bit of nicotine in your system evaporated and the craving machine kicked on.

Seems kind of unlikely- I haven't smoked since early/mid December! Can nicotine really stick around in the body that long?:what:

I often have dreams about smoking weed and I always feel like smoking when I have them. Your dream probably just triggered your unconscious and now you want to smoke.

Probably. I'm glad my last smoking relapse kinda made me aversive to smoking though- took some pills with it, got pretty sick and drugged up. Haven't been craving it since.

I have had this experience when I was cutting down on how often I smoked weed. I think since the act starts as mental. That when you deprive the mind and body of that action, it can cause what u have described. You just have to know yourself and find a way to get through it.

Set a goal date, this is a date that you say I want to only be smoking a certain amount by this day and take it one day at a time. Also get help from online http://www.wikihow.com/Stop-Smoking-Pot/Weed

This helped me, knowing yourself allows you to make each of these steps work for you. Instead of " flushing it down the toilet, I knew that it was better for me to have the temptation there and tell myself "no" than to go mad when the cravings began.

Good luck! Even if you fall just get back up again and continue. That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

I didn't have much a choice because my boyfriend left with his cigarettes the morning after I relapsed. Cravings have been veeery low since, thankfully.

Thanks though :)

Well that's good, it's all about circumstances and choices, which sometimes loved ones or other people, unfortunately/fortunately make that first choice for you. Good luck!
