I think what people misunderstand about those with gender dysphoria is that it's not about feeling like a certain gender necessarily. It can be, and yes, that reinforces gender roles to some extent.
However, there's the TOTALLY glazed over subject of BODIES
Transgender people feel like they're in the wrong body, as well as some genderqueer people, and possibly some nonbinaries.
Some, like me, just get overwhelmingly depressed when we wake up and realize that we're still a certain sex. Don't get me wrong- I'm not transitioning. In any way. I like being female. But I've had SO many dreams about facial hair and actually BEING a man, and sometimes being consciously reminded that you have a certain set of parts is disappointing.
Anyways, I just thought I'd put that out there.
