A Sydney man found guilty of murdering his estranged wife's lover after cutting off his penis will spend at least 16 years in jail.
Gabor Ziha, 57, originally from the former Yugoslavia, used a kitchen knife to butcher Barry Corbett, 58, as he lay asleep next to Marija Ziha, now known as Marija Corbett, in a Parramatta unit in August 2006.
In the NSW Supreme Court, Ziha was sentenced to a non-parole period of 18 years in prison, backdated to the time of his arrest.
His maximum jail term is 24 years.
Ziha was also found guilty of maliciously wounding his ex-lover during the attack on Mr Corbett and was sentenced to a concurrent four-year term sentence for that offence.
In handing down the sentence, Justice Graham Barr said Ziha was an "over-controlled, moralistic, jealous, indignant and angry man".
