In your humble opinion, what is the greatest book ever written?

(presumably, if you hold the opinion its the best book then you have actually read it!)

1984. It's a great read and it's had a huge influence on the world.

it's from the 15th or 16th century.

it was translated to English, so seek also for "Monkey - Folk-Tale of China" or so

classmates from China once introduced us to this novel.

I've seen the films does that count lol :what:

I'm not sure I'd say they're the greatest books ever written but Harry Potter was one I was told to read at school and got me into reading. And I'm sure it has for a lot of kids

Beat me to it. Agree 100%. A good and very important read, especially today.

I think it's the sorts of books that other books tend to be based on which are the best. Things like Tolkien's work that are almost the template for so many books after. I wouldn't say they're the best books ever though (it's more the story than the way they're written that makes them great).
