Now that we’re drifting towards winter, just the thought of SAD again drags me down. How do deal with it? I try to stay busy and active, but I’m thinking about getting some kind of light. They seem to be expensive.

I'd never heard of this before. For anyone else who hasn't heard of it: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/seasonal-affective-disorder-sad/
If you've seen people say those lights are good then it's definitely worth trying to save up to get one. Think of what you spend your money on now and if the peace that a SAD light would bring you would be better than that.

Do you live some place where it gets cold? Dreary? I've never really lived anywhere that is like that, so I can't really relate...

Thanks, guys. I’m glad I’ve raised awareness. :) And yeah, it can get pretty dreary here in the winter.

So what are these special lights that have been mentioned? What do they do?

Fiona, they’re called light therapy boxes and they mimic the light of the sun. They lift the mood through boosting seratonin, I think. The Mayo Clinic has a good article about it, but I don’t have the link handy.
