View Full Version : Is Aromantic/Asexual considered a sin?

As some of you know, many consider LGBT to be a sin.
For those who are on the scale of aromantic — refraining from any romantic relationships, or sex repulsed asexuals...
I am just wondering if those are considered a sin? I personally don’t think it would be because nothing in the Bible is forcing you to partake in romantic relationships, and there is nothing that says you have to have sex.
I know sexuality is a spectrum, but I’m referring to aromantic who have no desire for a romantic relationship and sex-repulsed asexuals.
Any thoughts? It’s just something I’ve contemplated and wondered.

I know it's certainly not a sin to remain celibate, but I don't know for sure if someone who is asexual would fall into that category. You should look into it if you're curious about it

No, sins are a made up concept in order to prevent children from thinking for themselves.

Exactly
Even if a higher power exists, religion, religious rules and concepts like sins are still man made constructs meant to modify behaviour

No, I don't see how that would make any sense. What sinful behavior would an asexual be engaging in (by nature of being asexual)?

This sums it up nicely, couldn't have said it better myself.

It's a "sin" to do anything other than what makes YOU feel good.

I dont think you can control that you love some one
It is not a sin to not love some one, and it is not a sin to love a some one the same sex

I don't know why it could be a sin at all.

I'm an atheist. As long as you are not hurting anyone, to me it's not wrong, and therefor not a sin

I can't see how not having sex can be a sin. I mean I know a few religions say you should have children and bring them up in the faith but I doubt they would force you to if you don't want it

Nothing wrong with it but I guess the conservative religions just can’t stand anything that isn’t heteronormative because they’ll think it will mislead the young people into something they don’t approve of :(

I would say it's not a sin

I don’t think so.
If you think about it within a religious context, specific sins are behaviors. There are moments or stories within scripture where if someone resists temptation and does not do behavior X, the story goes well for them or God comforts them for the discipline or commitment to the ideals of the faith.
Moses and his wife leaving him with his child for an example.
