The reason im feeling that way is because I’ve recently moved to study in the states(have never lived there until now) and I feel lonely since I’m without my family don’t really have a lot of friends. The academy I go to is small and there are rarely more than 4 people in a room( also because of covid)
I’ve been here almost a month and only have like 4 “friends” that I cant really go out with. And in top of that my roommate is 6 years older than me and he’s kind of mean to me.

I’m not really asking for advice cause the only thing I could do is making new friends I guess, but it’s getting hard this time. It’s not thr first time I move to another country, but when I moved there I felt comfortable and like home, here I don’t.

Sorry to hear that you feel lonely but u
only been there for a month. You have to
give it more time to get to know the friends
that you did make in order for you all to get
get comfortable with one another. If there is
a library go there and maybe you will meet
someone new or ask someone out for a drink
or lunch. Strike up a conversation and ask
some questions of what interests people and
maybe you can relate. As for your room mate
again it is too early since probably you two are
not comfortable with one another and Im sure
feels the same way as you do. Give it time.

I am really sorry to hear about your situation, and it is too bad that things are not working for you where you are.

I think because of Covid-19 that everything is out of whack and the support and acceptance that you normally would have had are simply not available due to the situation preventing people from interacting with each other in a meaningful way.

Since you have specifically asked not to be provided advice all I will say is that just know that there are a lot of other people out there just like you who are facing a lot of tough times due to the current situation. I really hope things work out for you, and know that there is nothing wrong with you as a person.

I haven't studied abroad yet but I am in for a culture shock if I do if its in Russia, I am not sure if my host family will live in a apartment building or not, I am doing everything to prepare, Russia has a rich culture and history but the living there must be very different compared to the United States, I only get to study there for 2-3 months too, but its for my future and studying there will help improve my opportunities for my life goals. :)
