Let's get one thing out of the way: I am, and will always be against remakes. Unfortunately, it's a crime that's being committed again and again, so let's have some fun with it.
Imagine that you're a movie maker, and you're being forced to not only remake a classic, but also, it has to be a different genre, and/or set in a different universe.
I would've remade West Side Story, and set it in the Star Wars universe. Imagine the rivalry escalate between Jedi (Jets) and Sith (Sharks) in the streets of Coruscant, the Romeo and Juliet thing between a former Jedi master and a member of the Sith, but what I'd look forward to the most was to see Master Riff and Darth Bernardo engage in a climatic lightsaber duel in the end, with the occasional use of Force powers and John William's epic score in the background.
Like I said, God forbid all remakes, but this is a scenario that amuses me. Plus, I'm bored. xD
Your turn. ^^
