I read Romeo and Juliet for GCSE and Othello for A-level and I loved them both (Othello was my favourite). I think Shakespeare's great. A lot of people write him off because the language is a bit tough but his plots are great and once you understand the language it's beautiful. I'd read more Shakespeare but I just can't read a play by myself.

Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet
Also there is a novel called Fool by Chistopher Moore that is a parody of King Lear. It is hilarious and many times inappropriate, but I can't recommend it enough!

Jaret,
You failed to list some of Shakespeare's best plays.
Julius Caesar
The 7 Henrys
The 2 Richards
Love's Labour Lost
The Taming Of The Shrew
The Two Gentlemen Of Verona
Titus Andronicus
My favorite is Macbeth, followed by Julius Caesar and King Lear.
My favorite line in Macbeth is from Act II.
"I go, and it is done, the bell invites me.
Hear it not, Duncan, for it is the knell,
That summons thee to heaven or to hell."
Chilling!
Macbeth then ascends the stairs to Duncan's room where Duncan sleeps and commits "murder, most fowl".

We read Othello in my AP Lit class. Never had much interest in reading any of his stuff, if im being honest. I prefer other genres and things to read
