Has anyone seen The Lighthouse, starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson? I saw it tonight. It was... quite something. It was an artistic film, shot on 35mm black and white film, shot in a square ratio. They did this to try and capture how photographs from the 1890's looked, as well as early cinematography. It was a dark, psychological film. I was most impressed by the cinematography and artistic efforts of the film, but also by the acting of Dafoe and Pattinson.

I really liked it. I like how different it was to most popular movies. I liked the way the more square aspect ratio changed how stuff had to be framed. Great performances too.

I haven's seen it myself, but it sounds like something I'd enjoy. Thanks for the tip! :)

I've seen exactly 30 films in the cinema this year and that tops the list. Incredibly bold and gripping. I wish it had a longer run because I want to watch it again. It was only shown once in my local cinema.
