The risk of catching a disease is real anyway (just higher) if you know someone or not because even if it's your girlfriend (or boyfriend) you can't be 100% sure about her/his past or that she/he doesn't cheat on you. I used a condom.

I've gone home with someone I've never met before but passed out before anything major happened. I've also bought a friend of a friend home but I wouldn't say he was a stranger I'd met him once before and we were at the same pre drinks.

I regret going back to the strangers because now I'm sober I realise how bad the situation could have turned he was a lot older than me and no one knew where I was thankfully he was a lovely guy and I was absolutely fine but I'd never do that again. keep in mind that I'm referring to completely anonymous and random hookups with strangers that you didn't know existed yesterday. this is usually done via craigslist, Grindr, etc. hookups with longtime friends-of-friends are different because in the latter case you can usually always get a good idea of that person's sexual history, as well as that trust that comes with the two of you being mutual friends of someone else. but in the case of CL hookups, your partner could easily have HIV or be a serial killer and you wouldn't find out until it was too late. it's for that reason that I'd never have anonymous hookups. I'm perfectly fine with casual sex, but I absolutely must have knowledge of the person's sexual history before I do anything, which essentially means we should know each other long enough to be considered friends. I don't feel safe enough with condoms alone.

I do completely agree that casual sex is perfectly fine and great for some people. Me personally, it isn't even the diseases as much as it takes a lot to get close enough to me for me to even consider that, and I'm definitely not one of those abstinence people lol. I guess I just hold sex as something a little less petty than some do. Past sexual encounters have also really seen to my trust issues. This. Considering I'm asexual, I wouldn't want to have sex with someone I knew, let alone someone I didn't know. The risk of catching a disease is way to high. There is a risk whenever you have sex, but if it is with a complete stranger, the risk is much higher.

I don't really see any issue with people having casual sex. Sex doesn't have to be about love. If two people want to have sex, I really don't care what the reason is. However, having sex with a complete stranger is, in my opinion, an extremely risky thing to do.

Although due to some of my more extreme emotional problems that were caused by one massive prick in high school, I think I'd be more likely to try something with someone I don't know.
