Netflix spent god knows how much funding Martin Scorcese's latest movie, The Irishman. It's over three hours long. Anyone watch it? What did you think?
Personally, I kinda liked being able to pause the movie and come back to it given its length. I ended up watching it over two days. I thought it was a bit slow but that was necessary to really flesh the characters out. I thought Al Pacino was fantastic as Jimmy Hoffa and Joe Pesci was really good as Buffalino. Robert De Niro was pretty good but not his best performance. Generally the de-aging was pretty good but you can really notice the way De Niro moves like an old man when he should be in his 30s or 40s in some scenes. I thought the whole way the union worked and the way the Mafia operated with it was really interesting. And the end is so depressing but in a good way.
