I don't think you can close your own threads. If you want to close it, you can ask one of the members of the staff to do it for you.

you can delete the contents of the post or ask a mod to remove it.

Just report what you want to be deleted and it will be handled accordingly. You can't lock or delete your own threads unless you own a diary. If you could normally, that'd be a hell of a mess.
