Ha yea but still loads better than the "other mutant show", The Gifted,which was boring in comparison!!! Maybe that is why it was cancelled?

Personally I wouldn't compare Legion and "The Gifted" directly.

The "The Gifted" has been discontinued for many reasons, especially because Fox no longer felt responsible for it and so the folks of the mouse organization mainly made the decisions. (In my opinion, Marvel lumps off strongly under the mouse's regime in terms of quality.)

Anyway, the complex narrative strands of the series weren't further expanded, as this would have increased production costs enormously. And the mouse people usually don't see this as an investment to increase the number of viewers, but, based on the respective current ratings, as a risk. So it's cheaper to cancel a show.

But to be honest, that's a general problem for new shows with dramaturgical potentials. No matter who finances such projects.
