Hollywood loves remakes!!! What movies should they stay away from and never remake (ruin)?
Off the top of my head, I say Back to the Future, Wizard of Oz, The Princess Bride and the Lord of the Rings. What do you think?

There are so many movies they should leave alone. Aside from the one's you've already mentioned, what I can think of immediately are The Godfather and Scarface. That would be no less than a sin!

When it comes to remakes I always have the feeling that they are just producing them because they can't think of anything new. Basically there's nothing wrong with making remakes as long as they are well conceptualized and thought out. But that applies to every kind of film.

I'm pretty sure that's why. Some times it's alright. Scarface, which I mentioned, is actually a remake from a movie from 1930-something, but it's actually a good one.

I noticed, "The Lord of the Rings"-trilogy was mentioned here. Movies that are an visualized implementation of literature ain't no real remakes.
It would be different in case of a re-filmed "Back to the Future" trilogy. To my knowledge, these films are not based on any literary model. Thus, such a project would be a classic, cinematic remake.

They're making a Lord of the Rings Amazon Prime series aren't they?
They should leave Pirates of the Caribbean, Narnia, Shrek and every other original Disney movie alone.

Right. Only it is a prequel series set thousands of years before the events of the movies, so not a remake.

Harry Potter, Lord of the rings, fightclub, rocky, titanic, and all of the marvel movies, they're all perfect and cannot be remastered in my opinion...

I've heard of this. But I don't believe it until I see the episodes of those series streamed on Amazon Prime. :D

I agree 100%. There's nothing wrong with the originals, they're fine as it is. Way to make money without having to come up with something new.

I think Shrek is Dreamworks though, isn't it? Disney is already cashing in on Pirates of the Caribbean with shitty movies - none of them since the first one have been very good, like apart from maybe the second one, they're pretty bad.

I'd be open to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings because they're already adaptions of something else. Lord of the Rings would be hard to top though. I think a Harry Potter remake might be better though - I don't think the HP movies are bad but I think the only one that I'd recommend is Prisoner of Azkaban. I hope they don't remake the MCU films because I'm already tired of them.
I don't think there is anything wrong with remakes if they bring something new but too often they just don't.

I actually enjoyed the 3rd and 4th ones but the 5th one was horrible. They turned him into a stupid drunk pirate with amazing luck.

That's fair... but I disagree about the MCU, those will never get old for me.

For some movies, it is TOO late.
Lackluster remakes & sequels have already been heaped upon us.
And just because some remakes might be good,
maybe the original still should be left alone.
It will be interesting to see how the new Lion King does.
To answer yoour question:
Titanic, Citizen Kane, Wizard Of Oz, Gone With The Wind, Casablanca,
The Original First Three Star Wars Films, The Back To The Future Films,
The Harry Potter Films, The Original Terminator,
the list can go on & on & on. But some idiots in Hollywood will someday
decide to do it anyway, just to grab a quick $$$.

If someone ever remakes or reboots Casablanca, my faith in humanity is officially gone.

I think their running out of ideas for new movies. So every movie is at risk for a remake but those classic movies can never be outdone.

That's likely why, sadly. Just see how Disney is raping their own classics one by one with those damn live action remakes of theirs, just to take an example. Totally unnecessary.

Movies are often remade because the current generation doesn't want to see movies staring actors from the last generation. This is especially true outside the USA, where they want current, name brand actors. And 70% of a film's revenue is from foreign (to the US) royalties.
In addition, with every new remake, the sales of the kitsch products starts anew.

They should NEVER remake "The Ten Commandments."
You can bet they'd want to be different, change the Bible, and make it Eleven! ;)
