So, it's vacation time for me and I don't have much to do. So, I thought of starting to work out. I'm really skinny and want to gain some mass. I don't go to a gym but I need to know what workouts are good to gain muscle at HOME?
I'm new to this working out thing.. So, please don't prescribe very hard ones.

I hardly know anything about gaining muscle but a lot of the time I'm on my own I randomly dance to music videos on youtube/TV. I recently got the video up for Scissor Sisters - Let's Have A Kiki and started dancing to it for about an hour. I know how to burn fat, I just eat too much uncontrollably for my methods to work :D

Might seem like a rather simple response up there, but it's true. Dancing is a great way to gain mass if you don't have any yet- it keeps beeing a great way later on but there's more effective as your muscle mass increases.

Push ups - Till you can't do anymore
Sit ups
Pull ups - Use a door or door frame
Dips
Squats

If you want to work out at home i suggest getting some weights bodyweight exercises don't work too well after a while.

Bear in mind that gaining muscle is a slow process!

As a beginner you can make progress with bodyweight.

Can you do pull ups or chin ups?

Pushups, dips, pull ups. Will work your entire upper body so you could just do them as a circuit till failure with 1-2 minutes rest in between.

Make sure whatever excercises you do, you do them with good form and a slow steady movement.

Muscle works through contraction not repetitions so a slow pushup with good form can = 5 sloppy pushups done really fast.

Also make sure you eat right. Enough protein to actually grow muscle preferrably spaced out to 5-6 meals a day. And proper rest every night :P

Its going to be hard to gain a ton of weight at home, but definitely buy a pull up bar. Check out reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness and /r/gainit, there two good resources to use if you want to gain. I've put on 22lbs in 4.5 months and I was extremely skinny before I started gaining. Buy a good tasting weight gainer and have 2 shakes a day on top of your normal diet, and you'll gain fast.

Chop firewood and sell it as you work out.

Chop firewood and sell it as you work out.

I ain't got no trees to chop. My neighbours'll chop me down if I chop their trees. That's a lot of chops..

You're kidding me? Dancing can be exercise too for muscle alongside other things? Hmm, who knew? Not me... I dance a lot and over two months I have noticed a flatter stomach and more toned legs. Interesting to me.

Dancing is more of toning than gaining mass. Then again,it depends on what type of dancing you're actually talking about.

By late 20s even the skinniest of us are going to sport at least a small gut and develop a relaxed atttitude towards our bodies......with jobs families following college binging etc etc. So do not push hard at working out and pumping iron, Eat whatever you like (dont over indulge on fries which will give you cholesterol, but sm fast food is fine).....have a positive calorie balance...Your body will decide what to do with the calories. If it expands it will expand to a degree and stop.
Ttill I was 16 I used to be really stick skinny ..then suddenly I started putting on weight....It was really embarrassing, I wanted my washboard abs.to show off at beach...After much thought i saw...this is normal weight gain of growing up. I gave up dieting I did not gain much more .....my waist went from a skinny 26 in to healthy 32 in....I now weigh 64kg from 48kg at 5 foot 10....

About a year ago I was really skinny, and now I'm pretty muscular. I didn't do anything specific, I just ate more than usual and drank lots of milk, I do an amount of pushups in the morning and at night, and I do a basic workout routine of mainly upper body weight lifting with dumbbells and a barbell. You don't really need to do that much when you're young, I've gained about a stone over the past year which has stopped me being a stick :P

Also, take up a high intensity sport like sprinting because it's the best method for six pack abs imo
