This is just a test. Gonna see how long it takes before this gets shut down, compared to when girls post on our forum.

Have a nice day, girls.

Pultost made the same test in the boys area. Maybe the result will be about the same?

By noticing your post in the wrong section, they might be more alert to the possibility now. Which makes this test not as trustworthy

Well if it makes them more vigilant about posts in the wrong sections, something good might come out of it after all. :)

Yeah, yeah, wrong section but I would have thought that it would be possible on a technical level to simply not allow people with a Male tag to post in a female forum and vice-versa. But this website can be a bit weird compared to some other websites and I'm not sure if whoever designed it originally actually knew how to do everything exactly properly. But idk, I didn't make it and I don't know how to make websites at this level yet.

Correct Anna. but you will see many boys who do not know the VT rules and respect them.

I've been thinking the same thing myself, but I understand that this site is pretty old, so I'm not sure if that's complicated to pull off or not.

Depends on what you consider winning. My hypothesis is they're no more likely to close a misplaced thread in the female forum than the male forum, which I believe is the opposite of what you were assuming.

I was more like thinking of how fast this gets closed as opposed to the one I made was. xD What made me make mine was curiosity since there's a post in the girls' forum made by a guy back in April, which is still there, despite numerous reports, so that got me wondering if some have more freedom than others. ;)

I think we're saying the same thing, opposite hypothesis, though.

My understanding is that they don't remove out of place posts, they just note in red that it shouldn't be there.

I believe your thread was shut down because it 'served no purpose.'

I'm not sure what they do about threads which have value, but are started by the wrong sex person.

I've seen them remove other posts made by boys by mistake, so I know it's possible. But there was no such note either on the post that was made back then.

I think threads started by someone of the wrong gender is moved to puberty for all if it serves purpose, not 100% sure though, but that would seem the most logic thing to do.

I think you're right about moving the thread. I forgot about that. I do know they move all polls to the 'puberty for all' subforum.

I'm one who generally reads instruction manuals on new things I buy, and geeky things like that, but have you looked at how long the rules are to this site?*
And from other sites I've been on, if a sub-forum is restricted to certain people, it's not possible for others to post there. This was discussed a few posts above in this thread.

The other thing is, people post in the wrong forum by accident, which I just did yesterday. I see in someone's "postings list" (or whatever it's called) a post which interests me. If I want to post a response, I hit 'quote' or 'post.' Nowhere in those actions does it say which sub-forum it's in.

I'm not a fan of perusing the forums from the main list. So for me at least, if I post in the girls' forum, it's by mistake, except in this case of course.
But this is for scientific inquiry ;).

*slightly off topic, but has anyone read what all you agree to when you download an app, or use a site like google? It's frightening.
It may be different in Europe. As I understand it, they have legislated much more protection of privacy than in the USA.

This is true, but I tried to minimize that possibility by wording my post exactly as Pultost worded hers, except to change the words "boys" and "girls."

The other issue is, if someone reported Pultost's thread and no one reports this one, then it's not a valid comparison.

So, someone, report this post :).

I have a quick question? How many admins and mods are on this site? I understand the point of this post and this post is harmless, but down the road there could be a much more harmful post in a section that is unwarranted. I suppose that is why there is a report button. The problem is if there are not enough moderators monitoring these issues then things get looked over or left behind. IDK????

That's a good question.
I think the issue is not how many mods there are, but how active they are.
At one point, there was only one active mod.
I think especially this time of year, with school about to end, they have a lot of demands on their time.
I believe we have one admin, who is pretty much AWOL, as I understand it.

I imagine a report will be addressed before mods spend time scouring the threads for mistakes like posting in an old thread.

I don't think many posts are really harmful. Sometimes pm's can be inappropriate, as I understand it, but you can block anyone you want.

Well then you should stop to read what section it is before posting, unless you can't read. It doesn't take that much more time or effort to read,,really people.

When you want to respond do someone, do you always go to the top of the page to see what sub-forum it is?

As long as it's not done on purpose and isn't out of line, I really think it's such a minor violation, it doesn't deserve that much attention. The strong objections seem petty.
After all, anyone can read what's in the thread. It's not like someone is breaching secret communication.

Yes I always look before posting. If that were the case there would be a lot international posting in the wrong forum and calling it a accidental posting just so he could put his two cents in. There is a reason they call it girls only, or boys only section,it's not that hard to figure it out. Daaa

If it's posted in the wrong section and the post is deleted by mods, it would serve no purpose. Daaaa

In my case, I edited out my posts once it was pointed out I was in the wrong forum. No bad faith there.

btw, what is "international posting?"

Come on, putting us to the test like this, or whatever you're trying to do doesn't prove anything.

I'm right in the middle of very important exams right now, exams that I need to get to university, heck I just came out of one an hour or so ago and I'm on here trying to do a million reports and lots of other things. Lots of us are in the same situation too.

Just a few comments based on posts in this thread (I've skim read it so probably didn't catch anything)

It's probably not possible to actually prevent boys posting in girls and vice versa. This forums quite old, and we've got quite a lot of gender options, so it probably wouldn't work anyway.

Sometimes threads posted by the wrong gender get moved to all, if it's appropriate.

If we see a post, or a post is reported, that has been made by someone by the 'wrong' gender, it will be moved or deleted eventually. Might take a few days, due to reasons I've mentioned above.

I don't see much I can add to what has been said before. If you have any questions just PM me and stop making pointless threads like these that just go off topic, yeah?
