5. My Mum HATES social media, she thinks it is dngerous and suicidal and is the reason everyone is stuck to their phones.

2. If so which ones: Instagram and Snapchat mainly. I don't use FB or Twitter. On others I just consume and don't post anything.
3. What is your personal opinion of social media? I enjoy sharing photos and looking at other people's photos. I also think social media can be extremely toxic.

I use Snapchat mostly, but I do have an Instagram and a Facebook.

I think personal media has a negative effect on our lives. Most people care about what others’ opinions are, only post things for likes, etc. Everyone gets caught up in popularity and it’s no different on social media. We do things because we want people to think we have great lives, but you’re not truly happy unless you’re doing what you want to do.

I would change the influence it has and the negativity it brings to our lives.

I don’t think they really care for it. My mom doesn’t have any social media because she thinks it’s stupid. My dad has a Facebook, but I believe it’s just for communication purposes.

Yes, I do have one. I purchased my phone myself, and I pay my own phone bill.

3. What is your personal opinion of social media? It can be alright as long as you use it properly (as in not being such an attention seeker/troll or blocking those who are like that)

4. If you could change one thing about it what would you change? Reducing the amount of cyberbullying

5. What is your parents opinion of social media? They're fine with it. They just use it to communicate with others and post/share photos

My personal opinion is that it is a huge privacy violation. The reason services like Facebook are free is because they collect your information and sell it to third party data brokers. You pay for it with your privacy!



Almost any online service that is offered to you for free is making you pay by violating your privacy. Even a lot of browser extensions like Honey for example, collect and sell your browsing data.


Also, any mobile application that you use, that you allow permissions to on your device is able to access your stored data. They export things like contacts list to their servers, you give them full access to your microphone so they eavesdrop on you.



The more you learn, the scarier it gets.

Twitter is probably okay, your posts are public anyway, so nothing (much) to worry about.
Facebook is something I avoid, like the flu times a million. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Yuck!
