The rating system is different over here, I'm allowed to see anything by myself that matches my age (like I'm 15 now, and there's a 15 certificate on a lot of movies, so I'm good on those). I'm not allowed to watch movies with an 18 certificate just like that, they have to consider it, and then watch it with me. That doesn't mean I haven't seen a few without permission, though. :P

Well my parents trust me and my sister not to watch anything inappropriate because with the internet it's really out of their control. They'd probably be unhappy if we watched anything vile though.

Its rated "18 " in UK which is when you can legally watch them.

I can't understand the logic of parents who restrict their kids like that, unless they have tight control of what the kid sees on the net.
I'm sure most of us have seen far worse than R rated images on the net.

I began watching R rated movies when I was 10. My Mum trusted me and my Dad didn't care.

like others said, rating system is different, but i never seen a movie that was for 18+ (other than the few porn i have seen). i have seen a few movies that are rated above my age, but only with my parents permission and usually supervision
my netflix, for example, blocks anything that is not for my age, that obviously includes tv shows and not just movies

They are aware I have Netflix in my bedroom (and my laptop and my phone) without any restrictions, so my parents are fine with it.

If I want to watch a R rated movie I have to ask my dad and he will watch the trailer and decide if it is OK for me to watch the movie or not.

I can watch R movies on cable with parents permission. Can't watch them if I go to the movie complex. You can try to sneak in to them. But if they catch you they throw you out the complex.
