can you appreciate a guy?

Hey
I am straight. And sometimes I am with female friends and they talk about beautiful boys that pass by. Sometimes they ask me "do you think he is hot?" And I am like " I don't know, I can't appreciate guys". I don't know if it is only in my country, but every guy that is straight say that when some girl ask him.
But I can tell if a boy is pretty or not. I just say that to look more macho and because everyone else say.
One day I talked about it with my best friend, and he said that he think that is dumb. I said the truth also. It's obviously that every male can appreciate other boys.

a lot of other reasons-athletic ability
personality-accomplished musician
well educated or even b Spiderman.
Yeah good looking and Hot is a plus
but its whats in the inside that counts.

It is perfectly natural for any guy to be able to see an other guy as handsome and attractive. The same goes for girls. They can see an other girl as beautiful and attractive. This is normal behavior and has nothing to do with being gay.

Obviously some guys look better or much better than others, but I can't say I can "appreciate" them I as do for girls.

its kinda just a matter of people opinions, like yeah you can notice a guys hot without being sexually attracted to him, like me (a gay male) saying i don't find certain women beautiful is a blatant lie; yes, i think they're pretty but i don't want to have sex with them. if your friend calls it stupid he's probably just too afraid to admit that he feels the same or is too insecure of his sexuality that he's afraid to call people of the same sex attractive incase he gets bullied or whatever.

I agree with most of the posts in this thread, except to say that everyone's idea of pretty, cute, hot or handsome is different.

There may also be a slight gender difference between what boys see as attractive in other boys and what turns girls on. It could be subtle things like expression, the way the guy walks or talks which, for example, could be appreciated by girls but maybe not other boys.
