Switching to trunks (underwear)

I was wondering since some guys change underwear styles during puberty, if you have switch to trunks, what did you wear before, or still wear.
Do you like them better than your other styles

I like trunks better than boxerbriefs, because you don't have to tuck in the leg length.

I'm with ska8er, I think you're asking about underwear, but we don't call underwear trunks.
I have worn briefs but now mostly do boxers.
And I've always worn board shorts for swimming if I'm misunderstanding your question.

I change back and forth between boxer briefs and trunks -- use to wear briefs until I started getting my own.

The one thing that I like about trunks is that the legs are not as long and you don't have to worry about them bunching up on your leg.

I think "trunks" is a classification of underwear as well, depending on the brand/store and they usually basically mean short(er) leg boxer briefs. Though I agree most often I've heard the term in association with the swim attire rather than underwear.

As for me, have worn briefs since I was a kid. Starting around puberty I began to wear boxers every once in a while, but never completely stopped wearing briefs. Now, I own both briefs and boxers and I use them both depending on what I feel like pulling on after I take a shower, but I wear briefs more often just because I find them a bit more comfortable. I guess boxers are supposed to be the "cool" type of underwear for younger guys but I find briefs to feel more like actual underwear rather than boxers which just feel like a pair of shorts under another pair of regular shorts. To each his own I guess.

I've only worn briefs my whole life. I know most boys when they get to being a teenager switch to boxers and/or boxer briefs out of peer pressure or start think that briefs are just for kids or are all of a sudden uncool. I've never cared about what other people wear or follow "trends". I stand by wearing briefs and no one has ever made fun of me or said anything to me about wearing briefs. From reading other posts here on VT I see that several teen boys still wear briefs only or in addition to other types of underwear. The reason I don't want to wear boxers or boxer briefs is that boxers don't offer any kind of support "down there" and I don't want my dick flopping around while I'm walking, running, or otherwise moving around and I don't want to have to keep dealing with the extra length of the boxers and boxer briefs "bunching up".

Since puberty I started wearing boxer briefs. I used to wear briefs but i like boxer briefs better, they seem to hold my penis in place better and not make the bulge as much.

However, I think there are regional names that are different. For example here in the UK what is named as briefs on the image are more commonly known as Y-fronts and no one under 60 wears them.

What is shown as bikinis is known here as briefs. They are probably more common for pre-pubescent boys, though I think they are making a comeback as I’ve seen some teens and guys in their 20’s wearing them when changing for sports (not so much in school, but definitely seen lads wearing briefs on my football team)

I think boxer-briefs and trunks are the most popular form of underwear for boys and men. When I was a kid I mostly had boxer-briefs, but I went on to trunks when I started to buy my own. Most lads in school wear trunks, but boxer-briefs are a close second. Third most popular are boxers, but I think less so than my dad’s generation. Older guys on my football team sometimes wear them. I don’t see many teen lads wearing them often.

What is shown as “Midway Briefs” I would think of a long boxer-briefs or compression shorts. I wear these in winter quite often, especially compression shorts when playing sport.

Jockstraps, thongs and strings are not popular or common here in the UK, but I will wear a jock for football, but not for PE. I own a couple of fashion jocks, that I wouldn’t wear for sport, but I’ve recently got into them and thongs as they’re great for wearing under tight skinny jeans.

Only a handful of friends of mine, that I know of, have at least one thong or fashion jock. I think they’re a bit of a taboo subject. A lot of lads on my football team will wear a sport jock for training or a match, I don’t know how many of them would wear a fashion jock as regular underwear though.

Some of my friends who know that I own some thongs and strings have expressed an interest, but most of my mates (who know, because it’s not something I go round showing off, unless I’m in a funny mood) just think I’m a weirdo. I like to think I’m more of a individualist and I go with my own style.

The only style I can think of that isn’t illustrated in the graphic is sport briefs. They’re like a mix between a jockstrap and a pair of briefs (bikinis) they have a pouch at the front and a a full back, but have jockstrap type sides. I’ve seen a couple of the older guys on my football team wear them occasionally, but I don’t see them in the high street shops, so I guess they’re not that popular even with the older crowd. That's pretty descriptive, the picture and what you said, but accurate for where I'm from too. I wear briefs, but the most popular by a lot is boxer briefs and trunks that I've seen. The second would be boxers though, seen a few guys wearing them. Not so much any of the other kinds though.

I wear speedo and jammers for swimming too and it’s not like you have a big massive bulge in them. Why they are so tight fitting or be like having a rudder in the water a create drag…but uncomfortable…no, not really.

I always wear boxers short since I remember. I have a few trunks and briefs (kind of swimsuits) that mostly stay in the drawer. I only wear when going to swim because it's tight and uncomfortable and so hot.

When I was younger (like little kid) I always wore briefs.
Probably around 11/12 I switched to boxerbriefs.
Now I sometimes wear boxerbriefs and sometimes regular boxers.

I grew up wearing briefs, changed to boxers when I was maybe 10 or 11 but I found that I didn't really like then that much. I didn't like that loose feeling and it made it especially hard to hide erections. I prefer boxer briefs or briefs now.
