Mainly because information, such as contact info or inappropriate photos can be edited out and we (as staff) have no way to view the history of edits in VMs the way we can in posts. It's a safety concern more or less.

If it were possible, I agree it would be nice, but it's just not. You can always message a mod requesting an edit, or just send it again and request the old one to be deleted.
