Hi so I’ve recently started wearing a cup for martial arts but every time I put it on I end up getting an awkward boner, which actually feels extremely uncomfortable while wearing the cup

Has anyone else experienced this how can I get this to stop, I was thinking I would just pretend to wear the cup which would solve the problem :/

Don't wear a cup -- sometime a jock but not often

would think you would want to make sure you have a cup as the end result could be VERY painful if not.

Catcher for baseball, no way I am not wearing a cup. Put in on before game, take off after, not much to get me hard during the game. More focused on game then girls

I wear a cup for martial arts too, you should always wear it because can be really dangerous and painful. Which martial art are you doing?

Maybe you're not used to the feeling, try to wear it sometimes at home until you get used and maybe try a bigger size.

I wore one for soccer. One kick in the balls convinced me. I wore it around the house to get use to it and cut down on boners.

I am a competitive martial artist and sometimes at competitions they will ask us if we have “protection”. Most of us don’t, so they ask the parents if they give us permission. I personally have never been hit down there because I am either being aggressive to get points in, or I block really good. It is good motivation to stay frosty and not let any hits get directed that way. So, you don’t really need it if your performance is up. Unless your academy says hell no, I would skip wearing it. It will be a lot more comfy and will be good motivation to make sure you block any hits going that direction lol. I am also assuming you do a similar type of martial arts as I am, so this might not apply to your style. I don’t really think you would need to fake wearing it anyway, most people can’t tell you have one on, unless they are staring at your junk.

Kind of a long response, but just skip wearing it. And if you absolutely have to wear it, than idk what to tell you. Though, I do see other responses if you HAVE to wear it.

Talk it out with your instructor or a male instructor at the place you take classes. There could be a clause in the contract your parents signed that boys wear cups for there safety, cause if you do get hit there and loose a testicle I bet there will be a lawsuit.

Just follow the rules and ask for help, ask your doctor,

I do sports too and its uncomfortable but I have been glad I had one on.

i get why you’d want to if ur doing something like martial arts, but if you’re getting uncomfortable boners maybe not wear it unless its a dire need, or wear it more often to get used to wearing it and maybe the boners will subside

Id only wear a cup if there's high risk of getting hit by a baseball or something like that., otherwise just wear a jock , as it keeps everything up and tight which prevents from hanging out and risk injury. Of course running is a lot easier with it on too ! Cup not so much.

Good luck! I never had to wear one but I've tried one on and felt like someone was mugging my junk. I totally understand why you should and hopefully you'll become accustomed to it and stop popping those big ol'boners!

I mostly just wear a regular jock (no cup) - but I've had the boner problem before, especially when I first started wearing one. For me, it goes away pretty quickly because it's so uncomfortable when it happens, just because the jock is so tight. But it seemed like the more I wore it I got used to it - so maybe try to wear it off and on to get used to it more.

I never wear a cup or a jockstrap, like 99% of people in my country. Problem solved :) and we don't get hurt either.

I agree with Daniel. I play baseball, short or 2 base, and always wear a cup. Nothing feels worse than getting hit in an unprotected groin by a line drive. Sometimes it gets uncomfortable wearing a cup if you happen to get a boner. But that is a minor feeling compared to getting hit in balls.

Good call making sure you’re wearing the right size. I’ve heard of guys getting hurt really bad if the cup slides around or moves even slightly, then it ends up sitting on your junk instead of over it. Gotta make sure the jock is tight enough.

I agree too. lacrosse started last week and cups are mandatory. Same for baseball.

My brother got hurt last season even with a cup

Yea baseball and football is the only reason Id wear a cup. All other sports I normally wear a regular wideband jock. Even soccer just a jock works.

Playing baseball when I was 10, at an early practice the coach took the boy who was going to be our catcher behind a building, and when they came back the boy was walking funny and looked like he had a huge dick in his pants. Coach had given him a cup and had him take off his pants, put the jock on with a cup pocket, and put his pants back on. Nothing was said, but the boy kept tugging and adjusting himself thru the whole practice. We were all whispering, "Does Frankie have something wrong with his dick? He keeps grabbing it."

Ive worn a jock with a cup for some sports and its not that comfortable after I started puberty. When I play hockey I have compression shorts with a cup in them so it's more comfortable than a regular jock but it sucks when I get a boner but that doesn't happen to much in the game Ive never worn one playing soccer though because it'd be to uncomfortable

I think it's pretty essential for any contact sports or high speed things like baseball, but like somebody mentioned, u should be focused on the game, and that should eliminate random boners. I never understood why ppl get those when they're doing something that requires all of their attention....

I wear cup and jock for lacrosse. It really sucks to get a boner with a cup. A boner is still uncomfortable with just a jock which I wear for basketball and soccer.

Oh yea for sure. I always hated wearing the cup and jocks. Reg jocks I find are pretty comfortable for sports.

Wear your cup with briefs undernath...I used to wear just the cup + compression shorts (under my regular shorts) for football....then my penis and testicles started to move around inside the cup when I ran etc...
So now I wear brief first , then the cup, then compression shorts (to prevent someone seeing the cup up my shorts) and then football shorts.

I rarely wear the cup. I think the cup with a jock is way better than compression shorts. Just moves around on me too much playing. I normally just wear a plain jock most of the time for soccer, running, etc. Much cooler than compression.

you have to wear a cup for soccer .. or does just a jock work better for all the running ?
