I saw the trailer when it came out and thought of making a thread about the new season so it's nice to see somebody did it.

season 7 for sure. but all the stuff I have been reading...the next season is going to be EPIC

Seasons 6 and 7 were really intense and there's no doubt season 8 will be even more. The show starts off slowly but when the action kicks in it's amazing.

I would have been more excited for the trailer if it came out like 6 months ago. At this point, the season is about to start anyway so the trailer isn't that relevant. Bad marketing imo.

I think the writing really declined in quality after Season 4. I mean I'll still watch it to find out what happens and to talk about it with friends but I don't really care as much about the characters any more. Seasons 5-7 kinda feel like a different show to Seasons 1-4. Now, if only George R.R. Martin would get onto writing the next book :(

Well GRRM is a writer on the show and he is currently writing the next 2 books from which the latest seasons are based on.

Yeah, although I read the other day he's said to not expect that the books will follow the TV story, so who knows?

I really like the show and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all ends (please don't be terrible...), but is anyone else bored of the buildup and hype? Sky in the UK have been plugging it non-stop for what seems like months now! I've seen more GoT adverts than Marvel stuff, and that takes some doing!

The action is ramping up a lot starting from season 5. Season 6 was amazing.

Tbh I think the writing goes into decline after Season 4. Seasons 5, 6 and 7 are not nearly as good as Seasons 1-4.

They just became more simplistic and straightforward. Out with the political schemes and in with the actual fantasy. The books are like that as well to an extent. And the writing went down in quality? The way the Night King is destroying the wall on the show is better than how it will happen in the next book (which the showrunners has access to).
