First Gyno Exam

Hey Girls,

Some of these gyno exam posts had me wondering if my experience has been totally normal. One of the most dreaded parts for me besides putting my feet up and scooting all the way down the table till my stuff is in the doctors face... is really the recto vaginal exam. Do you guys get this? I have had it since my first exam at 15....it is not comfortable to say the least and i always feel constipated after it for a little while :(

never had such horrible exam..just general check-up about cleanliness of down there and looking for any infection in side the slit and vagina...

I know what you mean, I found follow up visits a lot easier since l knew what to expect though.

Pretty sure your experience is normal, it’s just that some doctors routinely perform the vag/rectal exam and others don’t. I think it has a lot to do with how you answer certain questions before the exam, whether you’re active, if you’re having issues etc. It’s unpleasant but only lasts a few seconds and as Chloe said it’s eaier when you know it’s coming.

My mom is out of the picture so is that why I haven’t had one?

Nobody pushed me in it. I lost my virginity and I thought that it is normal after sex + I wanted pills.

I have had then a couple times a year from like 11 and one found my massive STD when I was 14. Once you do it and understand it the fear goes away. But it is still uncomfortable.

Yes, it's perfectly normal and that's what you can expect at each exam once you are old enough to get that sort of exam in the first place. I've had it done several times, most recently last week upon my admission to the hospital, and as part of the required physical exam for school every year, and by my own family doctor and gynecologist.

I'd honestly be really concerned if they didn't do that sort of exam, since it's how they uncover any potential problems. In reality it's over in 5 minutes or so and not worth getting upset about.

I caught Gonorrhea and I had to have my uterus and tubes removed. I was really messed up. They let me keep my ovaries as they were OK after I took the med's. They wanted to just let keep one of them. But one of the Doctors fought to have me keep both just in case there was a problem later.

It was when I ran away and my "Boyfriend" turned me out and I was hooker. It is not a proud part of my life , but I will tell others if I can keep others at home and not run away. Most girls that run away will be working the streets or doing escort work for their "Boyfriends". So many die from drugs now just to kill how your feeling doing it. If you die on the streets and how no ID you might creamated and know one will know you and end up in a unmarked grave if your lucky. At worst a hole in the ground in the woods or swamp. Sorry about being so grime.

I've only had one and I am a virgin. Wasn't forced our family dr just said it was time.
Emily fox don't worry if not had one sure you family dr will say when the time it's needed even if mom not about.
Unless you have any questions or issues wait till your dr tells you I think.
Orginal poster: Yeah it sort of sucked and was odd feeling, my dr said something about position of uterus meant I needed rectovaginal exam so I guess your dr did normal exam.

friend, that is the basic thing..to have a close look at those things...they did it..but i was not uneasy

That is a normal exam. We all just have to do it. It does get easier bc u know what to expect tho.

I have this kind of exam from my 13th birthday on every year. But i have to stay naked during the exam at my doctor.
