Interesting. As a litte boy I had a book about the body that described the various systems of the body, though not in any great detail - about a double page to each. That included reproduction so I knew about sperm and eggs and obviously that if a man and woman wanted a baby he would need to release his sperm into her.

I also knew somewhere along the way that sperm were too small to see with the naked eye so I remember wondering how the man would know he had released his sperm. Presumably there would be nothing to see and maybe nothing to feel either and I didn't get told about semen, either in sex-ed or by my parents, prior to ejaculating for the first time. I did immediately work it out, though, i.e. that the sperm must be carried in this liquid and that far from not knowing if they had been released it felt amazing.
