My friend told the girl I like that I like her?

So I didn't go to school today and while and I told my friend to tell someone that I liked this girl. So he told someone and he told her but I didn't hear what happened after that. The reason I told my friend to do that is because I wanted to know but me and her are both shy. We have been friends for a really long time but we don't talk as much anymore (maybe because we are both really shy but idk) and I think she might like me back. Did I make the wrong move? And if so what can I do to fix it? I'm afraid I might have started a rumor :(

I'd say before stuff goes wrong you should tell her yourself. Build up some courage, and take a step forward, it'll be worth it
