I am sad!! The person giving us the puppy decided to keep it after all. :( But good news. Indianapolis is having a special holiday adoptathon this weekend and we are gonna check it out. Puppy road trip!!!!!!!!!! :)

Train it to pee outside. Its essential. You can find tips on how to do it on the internet. Also don't feed if human food like chicken. My Dad made the stupid mistake of feeding our dog chicken when we got it and then it refused to eat dog food.

Ahh congratulations, that's so exciting! Puppies are a huge pain in the ass, but at least they're with you their whole lives and they're super cute to boot :P

UPDATE: Dash's training is underway.

We are getting there and i am giving him lots of positive reeforcement when i can. On the plus side, that last thing on my no list has been training ME to put away my dirty clothes properly. lol

ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Patience is KEY and it's a pain in the ass to remember that sometimes but it will help your state of mind and how you interact with the dog.

Find out if the dog likes food, toys, affection, whatever it prefers MOST as a reward and use that when training so it associates you and your commands with its favorite things. Don't let it steal food from you, and find out if it works best with you as a pack leader (alpha) or as a friend and almost-equal. I grew up with dogs that responded well to Cesar Milan dog whisperer style training and now I have this stubborn too-smart pup that I love but it doesn't like to see me as this overlord, but more like a friend.

Just give it time and build a friendship. Professional training from like petco if you have that where you are can be of great help to give you new training tools, assuming you speak to and like the trainer.

Still cute as ever. When i take him out he steals all the attention!!!! He is finally learning to go to the backdoor every time he needs to go to the bathroom. Biggest thing is he is so crazy when he is playing. He bites and it hurts! Not hard but playfull like. Trying to break that habit!
