So I'm in the production at my school, and even though there are places for guys and girls to change costumes, everyone pretty much just does it out in the open in the cafeteria. Nobody is actually naked, but a lot of people are pretty close. Some girls even semi descretely change bras. It can be kind of distracting sometimes, and I've gotten a few erections I've had to hide. Has anyone else had this experience or something similar?

P.S. It's not something I really have a problem with

I have not had to deal with this, but if you turn your back and move quickly without looking around that may help. Also, with all that is going on you may not have time to even notice or process. Good luck. I am curious for an update.

I was in a school play and we had to change shirt behind the stage, we had t shirts though.

I think it's normal for you to get aroused in those situations. It seems that everyone is comfortable with changing together and around each other. You are a normal teenage boy so don't worry.

very simple - do not look, then you are not distracted and get no erection.

This sounds kind of...not legal?? Minors of mixed sexes being allowed to be nude like this in front of each other is not something I think would be allowed at school. Whether people think it’s normal or not it just seems a bit weird to me to read this

I might get distracted by hot guys but it’s not a big deal to me... I wouldn’t mind. If you don’t mind then that’s fine.....

I've been in a number of plays including at school and at the community theater in the next town, and it's normal for the cast members to quickly change backstage. No one is completely naked and really, you have to change so fast that you don't even have time to pay attention to what anyone else is doing. I'm kinda surprised that anyone would be offended or think it was inappropriate to see other people in their underwear, after all those cover more than a bathing suit would. A girl obviously wouldn't wear a skimpy thong when performing in a cast, knowing that she would be needing to change in front of others.

Those who feel a bit modest might face the wall or try to stand in the corner, but nearly everyone just does what they need to very quickly and once in a while if someone knows they will need help, they arrange with a friend to change near them so help is available with a particularly difficult change.

It’s no biggie - you’re all a team, don’t peak on the girls and don’t stress

He wrote that nobody is naked.

I see that. I got mixed up I guess because one part seemed to contradict that (and I probably read too fast )

Can’t say that would ever be a situation that would be exciting to me tbh, too much activity would be going on around me

I’ve been in plays where both boys and girls change down to their underwear to change. I’ve never gotten that naked before, mostly just shirtless.

It's only a big deal if you make it a big deal

I was in a play last year where it was a complete wardrobe change. I was in my underwear in the back for like 2 minutes. Everyone saw me, but I didn’t care. I was still prepubescent so I didn’t look any different.

I've been Stage Crew for some school productions but never actually in the cast. But from what I've heard from some friends it's not uncommon for many of the cast, guys and girls, to make quick wardrobe changes in the same room. I'm not talking outright nudity, but guys down to their just underpants and girls down to just bra and panties (and sometimes just panties if a bra change is required). There are private areas but it seems all the cast gets comfortable with it, like one big family.

I get the impression those of us in the USA make a much bigger deal about nudity than most of the rest of the world. So I agree. It's only a big deal if you make it a big deal.

I've not had that - separate changing rooms. Wow I think I'd get a boner in a second!

Being comfortable undressing down to underwear while changing costumes even if others, possibly of the opposite sex, are there seems to be fairly standard for adults in dramatic productions.

I have just been in a pantomime where there was limited changing space. To comply with regulations boys and girls had their own dressing rooms and adults were in together. I have not come across people choosing not to use the dressing rooms when there is time but in some productions people have quick changes where there isn't enough time to return to the dressing room. In some cases there is not even enough time for the person to change themselves and it requires people waiting in the wings with the new costume ready to help. I guess that's how people end up losing any modesty they might otherwise have had.

It just means they have a lot of trust in their cast members and a lot of body confidence
Don’t make a thing of it
