As you may or may not know, I am currently off at college. Been good so far, gotten a group of friends, so I hang out with them a decent bit. The newest member of our group, a girl, joined about a month back, as she's the friend of my friend's new gf. And to be frank, I like her, like really. She's smart, pretty, funny, and athletic. I am not lying or exaggerating when I say I've never felt this way about a girl before.
I have two main problems. One, I am rather self-conscious and am not adept at one-on-one conversations, especially with the opposite sex. It's a challenge for me to even talk to her in a group setting, though I've been slowly getting better. Secondly, a close friend of mine has publicly expressed his own interest in her and attempted to start a relationship with her, but she quickly "friend-zoned" him as it wasn't shared. I've been basically in the middle of this whole situation between the two of them as an assumed neutral party, so me coming out as a contender could ruffle some feathers. I am hoping that some time and taking it slow will help mitigate these issues, but I would still like some advice on how to express my own interest, as well as reading any signs from her that could hint she might be interested in return. Thanks!
