I think the timing being a bit out-of-sync like that is more likely if you have been doing stop & go (edging) than for a quickie. Not that it matters, just enjoy the sensations in whatever order they come.

As for being pre-warned there is a definite feeling of something moving inside before anything actually spurts out. That's called the "emission stage" and is the various glands contracting and adding their contribution so it all mixes together in your urethra, ready to be pushed out. That means this sensation is after the point of no return - you can't decide to not to cum at that point but if does give you a second or two of advanced warning.
