What's your mode of escapism whenever anxiety or depression attacks?

For anxiety or panic attacks, I usually have to watch lighthearted TV shows. Drink water. Stuff like that.
For depression, I have to exercise, but I can rarely get myself up out of bed to do it...

I spend a lot more time with my best friends. A lot. Like I throw away all my other priorities and just hang out with people.
If that's not possible, I'll go for a drive or take a walk and take photos.
Last resort: I listen to music that makes me cry and tell myself things are going to get better.

Drink cold water or Gatorade (I think the electrolytes help) Long walks for anxiety attacks. For stress or depression, exercising, long walks or running to music. Interacting on forums (that's why I'm on so many forums). Cuddling up next to my dad while he rubs my back helps. Also lots of thumb sucking (hey beats cigarettes)

I like walking in the heavy rain with music in my ears, I'm not that nature freak by any means, I just like feeling the elements in their natural state. Sitting in the middle of a forest, with no one around is relaxing and it allows me to find inner peace, just like when I meditate. Smoking helps when I'm at work or whatever and I need a quick relief. A good plate of food and a full stomach. I get myself in a better mood by eating, like not obsessively but I really like food. I drink some coffee too, helps with the nerves, strangely. Usually with me, as long as I can regulate my breathing somehow, I'll be okay.

I usually go into a quiet room, listen to music, and read. Sometimes with strawberries when I am really stressed.

I don't really have "attacks", but what I do is meditate and think of what happened thought the day.

I often sink like the Titanic at random moments... When I get cross, I sometimes watch an old cartoon from my childhood (I love Lucy, too). Though usually, I just go out to the garage, fire up the '54 'Pony', and take a drive down the line. When it breaks down (As usual... she's a fussy little machine), I end up just getting pissed off, and forget all about the depression in the first place. (Hand cranking that old engine is a great stress relief). Rain or shine, and even better when it's snowing... Who doesn't like drifting. I get fun out of the oddest things. If I'm really feeling bad, Animanaics cartoons lift me up too!

My escapism is reading, I usually have three or four books on the go at once and I keep books in my room, my school locker, my bag, the car, if possible I always carry a book around with me.

I will step out of the situation, take a couple deep breaths and gather my willpower, and reenter the situation. If it is long term stress, I will meditate.

For panic attacks I use a variety of breathing techniques, or i'll go on a power walk.
As for bouts of depression I tend to just go out a lot, drink and have a lot of plans so i'm sufficiently distracted.

I don't get panic attacks. But what I do when I get seriously angry and can't do anything about it is I shout and yell and punch my pillows a couple times.

I don't really get anxiety and I don't really get depressed that much, but when I get stressed I work out. That helps heaps.

I used to write a lot. But nowadays I just sleep through it, although I believe writing is still much more helpful. Music helps sometimes. But since I only listen to music through YouTube, I don't often resort to it. Especially because when I'm on one of my depressive episodes it's so hard to move. My laptop is downstairs, unfortunately.

I work full time doing manual labour at the moment and depending on what I'm doing that can effectively distract me from whatever's going on in my head (though I've had two panic attacks whilst working).
Other than that, like now, I honestly don't have much of a release nor an effective method to deal with anxiety etc. I hope to hell that one or two specific friends are online, sleep, SH.

Listen to songs I know quite well very loud at max volume and lip sync the words.
It helps a lot and I get to know the songs & timings more.
Also on the way home when I have songs in my head, I don't listen to music when I'm outside much at all but I just lip sync what's in my head because I get used to the timings and the tunes quite easily. :):) I've randomly had a big adrenaline rush from it before, probably because running across the road even on red lights gives me a rush.. hmm :kitty:

I have always had a list of things that I do when I'm stressed, because I tend to get that way a lot.
1. Take the dogs out for a walk
2. Curl up with tea and music and just close my eyes
3. Yoga - this is a new one. I think I'm in love, haha.
