I think happiness is the important thing. every relationship is different. u don’t have to get married even to have a happy relationship/family. my parents were never married. Those factors and standards are different for everyone. some couples make a good marriage even when they’re long distance away from each other. U never know...

i kinda think i know what you mean. there is couple of ladies who live on our block who have been 'roommates' for a very long time. i am not sure how long, but its longer than i been alive. probably at least 20 years. i think they are over 50, but i don't know exactly. they act like they married, but always talk about each other as being roommates because they work at the same company. Everybody suspects they are more than just roommates. they seem to be happy togerther, so whatever it is, it seems to work for them.

You have to be able to get along, to disagree and resolve differences politely, able to compromise effectively when you can't agree, and to have fun together.

This is what I see my parents doing and they have been together for 28 years, married over 20 years.

I think a good marrige should include Respect, trust, love, honesty and maybe sometimes sexual activity
