I've just started puberty and I've been told that I need to get a physical exam. I've been given a list that they will check and want to know how they do it and will it hurt.

The ares are below
-- Penis
-- Testicles
-- Throat
-- Bottom (Inside and outside)
-- Something about having a camera put up my bottom and throat as well.

Everything on that list is usually checked but wtf is the camera for? To me that seems unnecessary and invasive...

Anyway, I've never had one so I can't really answer your question but I'd say something about that camera.

The doctor will feel each testicle and the entire scrotum, and will retract your foreskin and examine your penis. They might also look at your butt, but will not check inside unless there is a good reason. I don’t know why the camera so ask your parents.

Most of the examination of ur junk is basic so almost
everyone gets the same physical. U might also b tested
for a hernia where the doctor grasps ur junk and u turn
ur head and cough. As for the exam of ur throat and
bottom with a camera it is a flexible scope camera
that is inserted as a colonoscopy and endoscopy but
I don't c y a teen entering puberty needs an scope
exam other than if there is a problem. I wouldn't say
these exams hurt but they might b uncomfortable.
It really is not as bad as u might think so just take a
deep breath.

I don't know why they would look up your butt or put a camera in your throat. I would think just the basics. Height, weight, listen to heart and lungs, blood pressure. Then check your penis and retract your foreskin if you are uncut and check testicles and check for hernia. Nothing should hurt but some things might make you slightly uncomfortable.

There is no camera at our age. None of the rest will hurt so no worries.

All of this sounds normal for a physical exam with the exception of the camera going down your throat and up your butt. Unless you have some sort of throat issue I am really surprised that you would get a comprehensive throat examination. As for putting a camera up your butt, which is called a colonoscopy, I find that hard to believe they would do that on a teen unless he/she is a history of digestive problems.

Also, I find it odd that they are doing a rectal examination on you (inside) unless you have some sort of problem down there.

we don't have physicals in our country in such way, only a visits to different doctors. but they can check a penis and testicles and bottom outside. if they would find any problems with your health they can check a bottom inside also. never heard about cameras during such checks.

I've had a few physicals and never found them to be painful. Uncomfortable, but not painful.

Physicals in the US take about 5-10 minutes. Sports physicals at least. It's pretty much a scam to get money, and so that nobody can get sued if you do have a heart problem or something. I think the top reasons for a physical is to check heart and lungs (and liver and spleen, etc to some degree, but heart and lungs the most). Also to see if eyes, ears, nose, and throat (plus joints and vertebrae) seem ok. But all that is done in a quick 1-2 minute lookover. Then they take 1 minute to look at your junk and feel your balls. If they found a problem with anything they would hold you longer. Then you pee in a cup (can't remember if you give them a vial of bloob or not - not for sports physicals at least). The pee (and blood) samples can tell them more. Never had my butt looked at or any camera put in my butt or throat!

Based on my own experiences, having to doctor check the penis, testicles, throat and bottom on the outside is normal.

However having them check inside your bottom and throat with a camera seems unusual. Unless you are having a specific issue with those areas that they need to examine further that would not be a normal part of a physical.

I had those things checked before. But never had a camera examine my bottom. That seem to me to be a bit extreme unless there is a medical reason for doing that procedure.

hahahaha i agree. I think i'd be weirded out if the Dr put a camera on my butt
