Why did he start dancing once he saw me?

I saw my friend from across the hallway, so I started walking towards him. Once he saw me, he walked over to me too and started doing this little dance. He didn’t really dance with his whole body, but he just started dancing with his head going from side to side aggressively, in a silly kind of way. He was smiling at me while he was doing it too. This was the first time that he has acted that way towards me and he’s usually so stiff. Why was he doing that?
