View Full Version : I hate my hair

Basically, my hair isn't what I like it to be. And no matter what I try, I can't seem to fix it properly.

So I'm a guy and I have somewhat of a bowl haircut. The only problem is that it looks like complete shit because my hair is so thick and rough. So whenever I attempt to brush it, my hair tends to stick up and wave around and be almost impossible to brush. It's a bit infuriating.

It's usually like this in the morning. I usually shower in the evening/nighttime and avoid showering in the morning because I don't have the time. My hair is easier to brush right after I shower and it looks okay. But when I go to sleep and wake up, it looks like shit and I just have to live with it.

My main question is is there any way I can do something about this? Maybe make it softer? Because my hair isn't thin nor soft in the strictest definition.

My routine is when I'm showering, I shampoo my hair, rinse it out with cold water, and then condition my hair, and rinse it out. Then once I finish up my shower I wrap myself in a towel or two and dry my hair with a dirty t-shirt, but not fully dry. Then once it's like 80% dry, I brush it, and it looks good. Until the next day, however.

Is there any way I can make my hair softer? Or somewhere around those lines?

I hate my hair as well. I've tried countless hairstyles, none of them suits me, and my hair is also too thick and rough, which makes it even more difficult.

First of all, you should try to dry your hair a bit more, with a towel, preferably, and try to dry all the areas. Then, you should avoid going to sleep right after taking a shower, wait at least one hour, I'd say, and try to shower a bit earlier. Also, after showering, and before you go to sleep, try to comb and brush your hair the way you like it, so that in the next morning it will still be in the way you left it the previous night. It also helps if you use some kind of hairstyling product. I use a hair gel called L'Oreal Studio Pure Wet, and it's good because it can make your hair look strong and shiny, you can comb it in any way you want and it doesn't get sticky afterwards.

Maybe try changing your shampoo and conditioner? There are countless brands and sometimes it's the matter of choosing the right one for you... If your hair is bad with your current cosmetics, changing them won't hurt. Ask family for recommendations, maybe someone has the same problem and similar hair. I'm sure you'll find something with ingredients that suit your problems and will help at least a little ;) It's the case with me, some shampoos do nothing for my hair and some make it all shiny and pretty.

Dry it as much as possible.

Use a blow-drier if you must, just hold it above your head and dry down (brushing it down while you dry) . If you blow dry it from the bottom , pointing up, you'll get poofier/sticking out hair.
