so a friend of mine recently mentioned that he seriously intends to quit smoking, and I was thinking about buying him an e-cig to help with that. but first I have some questions about them.

I'm not a smoker myself but I've used e-cigs before and they taste good. but...

have any of you guys successfully weaned yourself off tobacco using an e-cig?
are e-cigs a practical replacement for your tobacco cravings? does using one work as well as smoking tobacco?
have you continued to smoke cigarettes after getting an e-cig?

what I'm hoping to happen is that the e-cig will work as a complete replacement and my friend can just crush his Marlboros and forget about them. if anyone can confirm this or has experience I'd like to hear from you.

i used an e-cig for a few weeks it worked for me, but major stress caused me to start smoking cigs again. it works for most.

But if you plan to go cheap do not get the BLU e-cig they do not work for me. and they tasted like shit tbh.

Hope i helped.

interesting. well AFAIK my friend isn't undergoing any major stress so this just might work.

Nope then he will be hooked on e cigs and be dependent on them he would be better off going cold turkey.

I'm well aware that it's still a nicotine addiction, but that's much less of a health hazard than constant exposure to the carcinogens in tobacco smoke.

I personally dont smoke, but i have a work collegue who would smoke 20+ a day and has been smoking an e-cig (clearomizer type) for six months, and hasent touxhed a cigarette once (well, had one when he was drunk ;-) ). Its not the tobacco craving, bu the nicotine that is addictive, and the liquids come in verious strenghts (mg), but you can get tobacco flavoured e liquid if thats what he likes the taste of, but the flavours are endless too.

I think your best bet might be is to take your friend to the e-cig shop where he can get expert advice and also can try different products (there are endless types) because what suits one smoker i assume dosent necesserially suit another. Hope that helps and good luck.

1) I don't smoke but my parents have and for a long time my parents did use E-cigs as a replacement to tobacco because you do get ones designed to replace actual smoking.
2) Well I kind of answered it in one. However, yes they are but you'll need to tell him to experiment with cartridges and nicotine levels in order to see what works best for him.
3) N/A

Personally you could buy him one and then let him choose what he wants out of it.
