what do you think should be the age of consent?

here in ireland the age of consent is 17, but i think it should be sixteen - at a push, fifteen, because it'll mean less cases of rape reported, probably.

In our state it's 16 and that can cause issues. I think it's OK for 14 and 15 year olds to have sex provided it's with someone their own age, or they have their parents approval for the relationship with someone older.

I have heard of some kids having problems when like a 16 year old boy has sex with a 14 year old girl. In order not to get in trouble, both persons need to be either below the age of consent, or above it.

My mom is OK with me dating 18 or 19 year old girls, and I'm 15. I also date girls my own age. I've had sex with all of the girls I've dated, but apparently that's not a problem.

My boyfriend is 16, and I'm 15 so that could be a major problem if we had vaginal intercourse and someone wanted to make an issue of it. Mom forbids the girls in my family to have vaginal intercourse with boys till after age 18.

I think the biggest issue for me would be if a girl who was 14 or 15 was dating a much older boy, like someone 20 or more. That could be a problem, and the age of consent should apply in that case.

It's 16 here. In my honest opinion, I think that's a little too young. Sure have a relationship with someone and whatnot, but do you really need to have sex at that age? I certainly don't think so.

The age of consent, here in the UK, is 16 years of age. I think it's about the right age. It's just about when you finish school.

in the UK the age of consent is 16. I think 16 is appropriate because by that time, girls have had sufficient sex ed classes (or by that point found it out online) and understand their bodies enough to reach a conclusion as to whether they consent to any act or not. I think younger girls don’t fully have that concept, maybe because they’re still school-age, and if I think if it was raised I doubt it would have much effect.

I don't think there should be a set age, rather... it should be based on MATURITY of the person in question. There are some 20 year olds I know who I wouldn't trust having sex haha

16 seems to be the law for most states in America and I think it works out fine.

It's 16 here and I agree with it, both because I feel that's a reasonable age to expect people to be in committed enough relationships and understand the consequences of their actions as well as the fact that 16 is in line with most developed nations so allowed fairness between nations.

The age of consent in Lebanon is 18. I think it should be 16, and it being 18 certainly doesn't stop teenagers from having sex anyway.

The age of consent where I live is 16 and I think that's perfect. I feel sorry for couples in California...the age of consent there is 18 and let's admit it, people much younger are doing it and that shouldn't make them criminals.

The age of consent here is 16 and I don't know whether it is good or bad. There's a huge difference between the words "age" and maturity level, both physically and emotionally. I don't think people under a certain age (maybe 15-ish?) should be having sex even if they think they are mature enough, because most everyone thinks they are mature enough even when they aren't. I guess legally they have to draw the line somewhere, so 16 seems about right to me
