So basically, a tech support scammer keeps using a bot to call me on my cell phone. And I just usually don't answer. But if I don't answer, they will just leave me a voicemail. Once when I did answer, it was an automated phone call saying "This is Microsoft, we are alerting you that we have detected suspicious activity on your Windows computer. Your private data is at risk. Please press 1 to speak with tech support agent and rectify this problem. Do not ignore this message".

Well, I already know about this stupid scam. I already block their number. But at random times, they will use a new phone number to call me again with the same exact automated message.

Is there anything I can do to stop this annoying scammer?

You could use an app like call detector to block known scam numbers, but I'd try answering it, press 1 and tell them to stop. Another thing you could do is read this, Stopping unwanted phone calls and text messages (https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/2015/08/stopping-unwanted-phone-calls-and-text-messages) and report the numbers.

A few days ago, I tried actually pressing 1. I said "Please stop calling my number. I know you are a scammer." and he answers "No, sir this is not a scam. We are official Microsoft. If your computer is not fixed, we will block access to it in order to prevent damage to our networks. This is a very critical problem."

Just don’t pickup, change number, or do what I do and record one of those obnoxious FAX beeps on the robocalls You get.

My family’s phone gets so many telemarketing calls, that one time I recorded the beeping noises from one of them, and then I loop that sound back from a recorders I have and play it back into my phone’s speaker.

Yeah, that would be another option, but being here probably doesn't have that much time, I didn't include it.. but I have done that... Lol

So this is what I did:

So I used Google Voice to call the scammer's number. I said that I got a call from them. Then they asked for remote access to my computer by using Logmein Rescue. So I said "The ID code you told me to enter is invalid". He then asked me for my Windows license key (claiming that it is a way to connect with my computer), so I gave him some random digits (hoping that it doesn't actually exist). Then he said that my internet is infected (I know about technology and that is not possible) and that I needed to pay for security and technical support (using Steam gift cards as a form of payment, saying that paying with credit cards is not secure and can easily be stolen from the hackers). I know that scammers want gift cards as they are untraceable, and any money stolen cannot be returned.

Instead of giving him some random digits, I said "The numbers are Y O U A R E A F U C K I N G S C A M M E R". Then I also said "You are a scammer, not Microsoft. Stop stealing innocent people's money when their computers have no virus. By the way, please stop calling me. This is not my real phone number, and my real phone number's area code is *** and the phone number ends with ****".

So now I think they stopped calling me. I wish I recorded the call to post on YouTube.

I only use sim cards with strict data plans. And for phone calls I've different VoIP services in use. No scammer has bothered me So far.
