From other posts, guys have said they change openly in the locker room. I change openly but the other guys on the swim team I was on wrap themselves in a towel or put on a long shirt before removing their bathing suit or change in a stall. I am from the midwest or Missouri, a very conservative area, and was wondering what part of the country u r from and whether guys change openly there when taking off a bathing suit.

I am from Illinois. At my school, showering is not mandatory, but the showers are open. You just change in the locker room, and nudity in the locker room is okay (everyone does it). But usually, everyone keeps their underwear on.
At the pool, people often go nude in the locker room. But some people prefer changing in the shower.

Where I am from, we don't change out of our underwear, so most people walk around the locker room with confidence, in their boxers. The only time you would see another guys dick would be when someone pants them, and they are all shy and embarrassed when this happens to them. My advice would be to change openly so the other guys might be like 'This guy is confident' and they might all start doing the same. Tbh I am not sure because I don't swim, ergo I don't change out of my jocks.
Hope I helped!

I am from Minnesota and we had open locker rooms and changing areas at the pool and beach. I have seen some guys do the towel or shirt thing. I think it looks ridiculous myself. It draws more attention than if you just changed. I have never been modest and can care less if someone sees me naked. I am not a bit ashamed of my body. I just have a normal guys body but I am happy with it.

You would never try the long shirt or towel thing in our locker room. We all change and shower naked together openly.

When me and my friends change to go swimming we do it openly. Sometimes we stand around naked talking or checking each other out to see who is getting more pubes or if their penis is getting bigger.

I'm not from the US but I live right next to it (as if, 5 mins away)
And you might think that those manners would come here too, but they don't
Locker rooms don't exist on schools here
The only shower on the school is the one on the lab, and you know It isn't for showering exactly
You NEVER see someone on their underwear, or naked
It's a different culture, kids here are taught that being naked isn't right
So...
No, we are not open

When I was in school we changed openly an
if we had to-showered naked but I usually
cupped myself back to the locker. The swim
class or team usually wrapped themselves in
towels to change cause of the wet suits. There
wasn't a prob with anyone how we handled the
situation. Im from the East coast.

I'm from Maryland and guys walk around, talk to each other and shower nude.

From the West Coast and no one really gets naked in our locker room. No one really showers either, as it's not mandatory. I've seen, like, 1 naked person in the locker room in my whole time at this school. Maybe other classes are different though? idk

I'm from Kentucky and some guys change openly and walk around nude while some do the towel and shirt thing. I guess it depends on the guy and whether or not he's comfortable doing it

I live in the UK and here people are either extremely covered with like 3 towels covering everything, the normal one towel or just completely naked and way too confident about it like I’m talking being overly touchy with other guys or like exposing themselves so much you can’t miss it

Most guys at school and on swim team just change and dry off in the open locker room. I tried to the the towel cover change thing and it was difficult and actually draws more attention. I am a little shy to change front and center. I usually find a corner in the locker room and face the lockers and change.

I live in a very rural area too and nudity is something I never experienced in the locker room, even though my school is slightly on the more socially liberal side.

I've never noticed if nudity was more or less treated differently in rural or urban places. But I did realize the way people reacted was very different in rural areas. Most dudes prefer not to talk about it and would attempt to shield their genitals if possible even though we can still see it somehow. Though in the more rural places, there are usually more options on how you can change vs the urban areas which seem to force you to change in the open.

I am from Vancouver Canada. My school team changes openly and in the shower. Some younger boy13 do cover up with a towel.

I’m from BC in Canada too and from what I see most guys my age are like me and use a towel wrapped around them to change. Old guys walk around fully naked, which I think is gross to have to look at.

I'm from an extremely conservative area of the country, and I've never seen a guy change openly. Even though I go to maybe the most liberal school in the state, no one here is really comfortable with it.

I live in an urban country. But nudity is so taboo here so we have changing stalls.

I am from TN but have lived in NJ. In both places guys are open about being naked in the lockerroom and showers (But I go to an all boys school so that might be why). Guys make jokes if someone is doing the "Towel dance" to change like they are scared of people seeing them naked.

In school in particular we had literally no time to strip or shower before or after PE lessons so that was more of a reason for us always being in boxers when we changed. Otherwise, in swimming changing rooms I've seen a real mix between completely open changing areas where everyone has no choice but to be naked around each other and closed off, cubicle rooms where everyone changes privately.

Last year in 7th we only had time to change from PE uniforms to school clothes so we didn't shower after class and nobody got naked. For after school sports we showered and got naked. At the swim club we always shower. It's always in the open with lockers.

Did Middle school In Atlanta, HS in Boston.
We change in the open, have a open shower room. In middle school some of the 6th graders would hide somewhat, but seem most of them had no development yet. And did not want to show that they had nothing yet.
My HS has one "Private" curtain area for handicap use, But next to no one use it, The middle school next door also has one there showers.

I live in Australia. Here in my school, We don’t really get to shower or even change our underwear. Only clothes. There are shower stalls but only used by any of our sports teams..
As far as i know, Some schools in Australia have students getting completely change while some don’t need to. It’s a mix-mix

I live in Australia and at my school we all shower and change openly, although showering is optional if recommended and wanted. In my class everybody showers by now.
And yes it varies from school to school here.

I do a lot of sports and usually wearing a speedo or jock so gotta change out. Were pretty much chill with it. Some dudes in gym try to hide..or change in a stall. but that's pretty typical if there not into sports.

I think that geography definitely plays into it! But I feel that the culture of the school (and the kids at the school at the time) play an even bigger role! I grew up in Seattle Washington until high school. Seattle is a large liberal city with a lot of diversity and definitely not homophobic. But I went to 3 different schools from grades 6-8 and each school was completely different regarding locker room changing and showers. Same with all the different basketball and soccer and swim teams and other teams I was on. When I moved to Northern Idaho for high school it was different. Nearly everybody was white and usually conservative and whether people knew or admitted it or not, people were at least a tiny bit homophobic. So there were some people very shy. But everybody grew up together so they knew and trusted each other and those who weren't shy are very open to showering together. So it really just depends on more than one thing imo.

At least in my class people would towel change or go to a bathroom stall.

Some of the schools here in St Louis MO shower and some don't. Too many people are teaching their kids that naked is bad. If it is sexual then being naked around a locker room is not a bad thing. People need to get over it.
