What exactly do you need to do? I have 2 iPhones X’s and the phones are identical in terms of contacts messages and call logs. All I did was sign in the same ID, enable calls on other devices, activate text message forwarding. iCloud takes care of the rest… If you just need the data transferred just airdrop. If you need to migrate I suggest use iCloud.

I don't understand what you mean by connecting iPhones. But I guess you mean by transfering data.

You can do it using iTunes on Mac or Windows.

Or you mean by connecting to transfer power? Nope, scientifically it's not going to work.

You have two choices...

Either back up your phone locally using iTunes or make an iCloud backup. Then when setting up your new iPhone restore it from an iCloud back up or local backup. Either of the two works.

You can't transfer data through Airdrop. You will need to do it through Icloud or iTunes.

Backup them with iTunes or iCloud. Then restore them to new iPhone. Or you can follow this post (https://www.tunesbro.com/transfer-everything-from-old-iphone-to-new-iphone.html) to transfer data from one iPhone to another.

Airdrop is only for transferring small amounts of data such as notes, pictures, videos, etc.

If you haven't already on your computer, download and install iTunes (https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/). And then after that, you will create a backup of your old iPhone using iTunes. Then you can transfer the backed up data to your new iPhone. The instructions are too hard for me to clearly explain, so you may read this from Apple (https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht201269#itunes) which should help you.

Any tool will only know if it is helpful after testing

Yeah , the Airdrop can only be used to transfer notes, photos and videos.....
but for iPhone text messages and contacts , it can't do anything ,on here you can try this transfer tool (https://www.iphonetransferrecovery.com/tutorials/transfer-data-from-iphone-to-another-iphone-6.html) to transfer everything between two iPhones .

For Android phones you have OTG adapters and you can transfer data between.( The phone that is with the OTG adapters is the one that recieve the data.)

For iPhones you can connect your phone to iTunes, make manual backup and thin up it in another iPhone.

You can also, do a iCloud backup from your iPhone

Or the new thing you can do everything wireless (if one of the phones is new)
With the old phone, lock the screen. With the new phone, enter in the language Menu.
Then in the old phone with appear one pop up. Then set new device and scan the things in the new iPhone. It's pretty easy. I will give you a link if you didn't understand my explanation https://youtu.be/YPTNGufVbOI

Did it helped?

In general ,the USB cable can be used to connect two phones , whether they're the same device or not
