I just want a phone call on my birthday

So I'm turning 16 in about a week (March 20) and my day hasn't called me in months. He or we tend to not talk for a couple of months unless I call him or he actually thinks to call me. I just moved to a different state and live about 9 hours away from him. I have a brother (on his side of the family) that's 7 or 8 (idk) that hasn't talked to me since I moved and gets calls from my dad everyday. They both happily call each other and sometime my brother asks about me (but never calls). I've actually tried to contact him but they won't answer the phone because of my number change. When me and my dad do talk, he blames me for not calling him more and are conversations are really short and always the same. I want to call him but I don't want a short conversation. I think all I want for my birthday is a phone call from him just to let me know I'm not forgotten...

First off: big hugs.

Second off: Sweetheart, you really don't need to care so much for someone that doesn't seem to care that much about you. I can still understand the "not calling you" part because who knows maybe your dad is busy with work, but the fact that he's guilt-tripping you into calling him is IMO unacceptable :( you don't need to stay in this situation. Really. I'm sure there are other family members or friends that can spark up your birthday. Not saying your dad definitely won't call or he would forget your birthday, but you do not need his 'approval' to be loved and remembered by everyone else.
