Hey... I'm 16... probably 2/3 into puberty, but still don't have armpit hair. Is it actually possible not to grow any? Seems like it's the one thing everyone - guy or girl - gets, but i don't have a single strand. Just seems weirld since I've had pubic hair since 12-13. i don't really mind it too much... it's just that people think i shave it lol

I'm asian so our only two options are very thin and whispy or something that isn't bushy but the strands are long lol.
From experience I only know of one person who grew it so late. He was 17 when he got it and he was an upper classman. We actually though he shaved since he was one of the best dancers in our theatre group and was really lean and muscular like uh you know a dancer... We were shocked just before he graduated tiny whiskers of hair were present every time he does an arm raised pose. People were more staring at the little amounts of hair than the dancing since they were shocked lol

I think this link should answer your question; I poked around quite a bit, and everything I found seemed to say the same thing. In summary: no, as long as you have normal development everywhere else, probably don't have anything wrong with you. Do you happen to know if either of your parents have the same lack of armpit hair? That could of course indicate a genetic cause.

Everyone's body develops in different ways and at different rates. if you know the rest of your body is fine, it's probably just your pits lagging behind rather than a legitimate medical issue.

Everyone develops differently, you may take longer to get pit hair, but don't worry you'll be fine

You're still 16 so don't worry. By next year you'll most likely grow armpit hair. Don't know why you'd want that though :P

You could be late or it could be totally genetic. Do you have any facial hair yet? Enough so you need to shave? If not that usually is what comes last is your beard.

Hey Max, I'm 16 also, i have a few hairs in my pits, but not much. Does not bother me that I don;t have much.
But is a little weird when i see middle school guys at the pool with more then I do. Everyone get there own hairyness factor. You have your, I have mine, everyone else has theirs.
But there is nothing you can do about it, Don't Stress it.

My best friend is 16 and he didn't start getting armpit hair until this year, so I'd say keep waiting. It'll happen. :)

I’m 14 and have quite a bit more than my friends actually. It’ll arrive when it arrives.
