Someone just shared this video with me, and it was quite enlightening. I already agreed with the core premise that SJWs are not Liberals in the traditional sense, but his comparison between McCarthyism and SJW philosophy was something I have never really thought of, but makes a lot of sense. Both feed off paranoia, one of communist invasion and one of a racist/sexist takeover. Both take even the slightest evidence (or completely fabricated evidence) to jump to extreme conclusions about a person's beliefs. And both have no qualms with using public harassment and mob tactics to completely ruin a person's life.
So really, how is the communist paranoia of McCarthyism any different than the racism and sexism paranoia of Social Justice Warriors?

I'm also pretty tired of this very prominent SJW culture that's sweeping prominent Millennial groups as it does nothing to further legitimate conversation or bring about real and meaningful change. It's the reason why the term 'Liberal' has little meaning or standing in genuine Marxist and Leeftists circles as it has become a buzzword and banner for the neo-liberal, 'callout culture' groups that no one wants to associate with. I think this dichotomy really began to show it's face with the 2016 election with the divide between Bernie-crats and Hillary supporters though obviously Bernie is hardly the face of the traditional left either.

I think they are similar because they're both extreme. They're both incredibly sensitive to anything that deviates from their idea of "correct thinking". If you're not in complete lock-step with them, if you slip up once, you risk making an enemy of them and being taken down viciously.

They aren't. I mean there is one difference. SJW's target far far far more people than McCarthy could ever have dreamed of targeting.

To clarify I think Social Justice has a bad rep from SJW. Social Justice Advocates are the ones who seem to really care about the ills of society so to speak and are more proactive and educative. Social Justice Warriors are more combative and not interested in dialogues. They are also vindictive and petty because if you make a mistake once or are ignorant on a subject you are automatically “cancelled”. I notice they perpetuate a call out culture and sometimes oppression olympics by more or less showing that certain minorities rights are more important that others. They also have the tendency to call out anybody just to prove they are the wokest of the woke in a competition that nobody seems to be in except themselves. Its more of a moral high ground thing than actually doing something about injustices if you know what I mean.
For me the most ridiculous example of an SJW is where one female scientist said she didn’t want to see The Black Panther movie in the first week because it would take away from the pride and happiness of those with African descent.
McCarthyism while I’m not in the US and just heard or learned about it from other sources seems to be more “patriotic” and nationalistic in nature. So its US Centric as it deals with treason national security and national ideologies etc.
