Nah, Tumblr's neat. I'd just advise staying away from the SJ side because it tends to be full of kooks and bigots (which is ironic)

You can search tags for things you like. For instance uh

Ok I don't know any of your interests, but I like anime. So I'd search for the tag "anime". Then, I'd click on a post I like, and look at that person's blog. If I like their blog, I follow them.

It's like clockwork once you start following people. Scary, addictive clockwork.

Yeah, I made one, didn't get it the appeal, then left. I frequent my other personality's tumblr so I'm actually for once not Syvelocin over there. I'll share if you want to follow her though.

Start following some people based on interests and reblog whatever suits your fancy. Some people have theme blogs. Some people have fandom blogs. Some people have two separate blogs like a fandom blog and an art blog. I just have a single fandom/personal/whatever blog.

Trust me, it took me about a year after making an account to figure out what the hell I was going to do with it. (And hey, I now have just under 1,800 followers for it, so it's obviously working. :P) (Seriously though, you shouldn't make your sole aim to get more followers. I mean, they're nice, but you should please yourself with your blog first.)

Anyways, the advice of looking through tags of what you like and following blogs that you would want to reblog stuff from is definitely helpful. Personally, I just reblog whatever I want, mostly just humour stuff.

It's really complicated and such to figure it out, I tried having one like two years ago after I got into the 1D fandom, but I failed epically and then I tried again when I got on VT, and I started getting the hang of it.

I love my Tumblr, and the site in general. I think it is great that you can shape your blog to fit your personality - which I think I have done pretty well. :) It is a little confusing at first, but I'm thankful that I was talked into it. It's part of what I do online every day, and I know a lot of people here on VT are on Tumblr too.

I absolutely adore tumblr! Basically you can create your own blog and post your own content by uploading it, or reflagging which is just reposting someone else's post. You can follow blogs specific to your interests, and find people with mutual interests that way. Really Tumblr can be ANYTHING because there are so many different options when it comes to following people and this or that because everyone's blog is unique and different. :) I hope you find it as enjoyable as i do!
